Se as pedras respiram, 2016, marble
Collective exhibition "Entre o Chão e a Parede" at Casa da Imagem, Vila Nova de Gaia,

As a way of breathing through turbulence, marble waste pieces are polished, softened, in order to create space for loss to be recognized as a transformation.

Salvador left the wish that "Ítaca", a poem written by Konstantínos Kaváfis, was read in his memorial service. Through it, we enter in the greek odysseys imaginary to reflect about how precious are journeys, aiming more to the beauty of the path than any other wish outside from the present.

I recall "Ítaca" in an imaginary scenario where marble fragments resemble pieces from lost sculptures, found in the sea; carrying a sense of passage and dissolution.

In the loving memory of Salvador Rocha.
